BAGUIO CITY — A huge boulder rolled down a mountain slope and crushed a house, a parked car, and killed a dog in Camp 7, Kennon Road, Baguio City on Saturday afternoon as Severe Tropical Storm “Crising” brought intermittent heavy rains to the area.

The incident occurred at around 1:15 p.m., according to City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (CDRRMO) Charles Bryan Carame. He said no one was hurt since the house was unoccupied and the residents had evacuated earlier due to the typhoon. The car was also empty at the time.

However, Camp 7 barangay officials reported that a pet exotic bully dog perished when the boulder struck the property.

Responders from the CDRRMO, barangay officials, and the Baguio City District Engineering Office were dispatched to clear the site and assess the damage. The case has been referred to the City Social Welfare and Development Office for assistance to the affected homeowners.

As of 4:00 p.m., Kennon Road remains closed to traffic due to “continuous rockfall at the entrance of the rockshed,” the Department of Public Works and Highways–Cordillera announced.
