The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Friday reported uncovering an illegal cigarette production facility operating inside a warehouse in Tanza, Cavite.

During a press briefing, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said authorities carried out the raid Thursday morning under a letter of authority issued by the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

Remulla revealed that the operation had reportedly been running since August 2025, with estimated production reaching around P2 billion over that period.

The warehouse was registered under the name “Cavite South Luzon Steel Management” and was declared as a storage facility for canned goods.

The operation came to light after a concerned citizen complained about a strong smell of tobacco coming from the site. Subsequent surveillance confirmed suspected cigarette manufacturing activities, leading to the inspection.
