ROXAS CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 has assured the public that no unauthorized funds are being released under the 10-day ban on the distribution of cash grants, particularly those covered by the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and the Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, DSWD Region 6 Information Officer Therese Fely Legaste clarified that only medical and burial assistance under the AICS program are allowed during the aid distribution suspension, as permitted by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Legaste explained that individuals seeking medical or burial assistance are being thoroughly assessed by social workers, who review their documents to determine eligibility and fund availability.

“Other than medical and burial assistance, no other forms of aid will be granted by the agency until May 12, 2025,” Legaste said, citing strict compliance with COMELEC guidelines during the election-related aid distribution ban.

The AICS program provides immediate and temporary assistance to individuals and families facing crises or hardship, while the AKAP program offers financial assistance to workers earning below the minimum wage, who are most affected by inflation.
