The Philippine Embassy in Israel has confirmed the death of a Filipino caregiver, Leah Mosquera, who died from injuries sustained in an Iranian missile attack on June 15.
According to Bombo International Correspondent Elvie Pregua directly in Israel, she expressed the deep sorrow of the Filipino community in the country.
She described Mosquera as a hardworking, loving, and quiet person, who had been serving as a caregiver for almost two decades.
Mosquera, who was expected to celebrate her 50th birthday on July 29, is the first confirmed Filipino to die in connection with the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
She said that despite her severe illness, her sister, who is also an OFW and was also in Israel during her last days, did not abandon her.
He added that the Philippine Embassy in Israel is currently coordinating with the authorities to arrange for the repatriation of his remains.
The embassy once again called on Filipinos in Israel to be careful and alert, especially amid the ongoing tensions in the region.
