OKLAHOMA CITY – The Indiana Pacers stunned the Oklahoma City Thunder on their home court with a narrow 111-110 victory in Game 1 of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals.
Held at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, the Pacers overcame an early deficit to pull off a dramatic win.
The Thunder led early, taking the first two quarters with scores of 29-20 and 28-25. However, the Pacers fought back strongly in the second half, outscoring the Thunder 31-28 in the third quarter and 35-25 in the fourth.
Key contributors for Indiana included Pascal Siakam with 19 points, Obi Toppin with 17, and Myles Turner adding 15.
Despite a strong performance from Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 38 points, along with 17 points from Jalen Williams and 15 from Luguentz Dort, the Thunder fell just short in front of their home fans.
Game 2 is scheduled for Monday, January 9 at 8:00 PM, still at the Thunder’s home court.
