Health authorities have confirmed two cases of MPOX (Monkeypox) in Iloilo — one in Iloilo City and another in the province — prompting heightened disease surveillance and monitoring of close contacts.

According to Iloilo City Health Officer Dr. Mary Ann Diaz, the confirmed city case is currently in isolation and receiving medical care. In addition, four individuals suspected of having the disease are also being monitored by the Iloilo City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit. All patients are reportedly in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office also confirmed one MPOX case in the province. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon stated that out of three specimens tested, one came back positive. The patient, who had no travel history, is now isolated at home.

Authorities have identified nine close contacts of the provincial case. All are currently under isolation, and based on the latest monitoring, none have shown symptoms of MPOX so far.

Both city and provincial health offices are continuing intensive surveillance and are urging the public to remain alert, practice good hygiene, and report any symptoms or possible exposure to their nearest health center.
