Former volleyball star Mayeth Carolino is now leading the women’s volleyball team of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, hoping to bring the program back to its championship glory in the NCAA Philippines. Once a standout player for the Lady Knights, Carolino is proving that women are capable of leading and succeeding in sports leadership roles.
During her playing days, Carolino helped Letran win back-to-back NCAA women’s volleyball titles in 1997 and 1998. She also earned Rookie of the Year in her first championship season and Most Valuable Player the following year.
After finishing her collegiate career, she went on to represent the Philippines in international competitions in the early 2000s and contributed to the national team’s three consecutive bronze-medal finishes from 2001 to 2005.
Now returning to Letran as head coach nearly three decades later, Carolino hopes to guide the Lady Knights back to their winning tradition while showing that women can take on major leadership roles in sports.
