ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ – Heavy vehicles are no longer allowed to cross the Capiz/Roxas City Bridge following an executive order issued by Roxas City Mayor Ronnie T. Dadivas due to structural safety concerns.

The order, dated June 13, 2025, came after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Capiz First District Engineering Office conducted an inspection of the century-old bridge and found it potentially unfit to carry heavy loads.

Effective immediately, all vehicles with six wheels or more—such as cargo trucks and container vans—are prohibited from passing through the bridge. The restriction is aimed at preserving the structural integrity of the aging infrastructure and preventing any untoward incidents.

Mayor Dadivas stressed the importance of preventive action to avoid any imminent danger that could arise from overloading the historic bridge.

To ensure strict enforcement, the Roxas City Traffic Management Unit (TMU), the Philippine National Police, and barangay officials—including BPAT members and tanods from Barangays I, III, VI, VII, VIII, and IX—have been mobilized.

The prohibition will remain in place until further notice or until the bridge is declared structurally safe.
