The National Unity Party (NUP) may allow its members to cast a conscience vote on the impeachment case against Sara Duterte.

Deputy Speaker and NUP chairperson Ronaldo Puno denied reports that the party met with House leaders regarding the impeachment issue. He clarified that no dialogue took place with Speaker Faustino Bojie Dy III and Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos.

Puno said the party’s position will depend on the evidence rather than political pressure. While the NUP earlier said it was unlikely to support the complaint due to lack of new evidence, some members remain divided on the issue.

Meanwhile, Senior Deputy Majority Leader Lorenz Defensor argued that there may be sufficient grounds for betrayal of public trust related to the vice president’s livestream.

At present, only two of the four impeachment complaints filed in the House remain active.
