MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Police Major General Nicolas Torre III as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Malacañang announced Thursday.
Torre gained national attention for leading several high-profile operations, including the recent manhunt and arrest of televangelist Apollo Quiboloy in Davao City. Prior to his appointment as PNP chief, he headed the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), where he also served the warrant of arrest against former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Throughout his career, Torre has held key leadership posts, including chief of the Quezon City Police District, Davao Region Police, Western Samar Provincial Police Office, as well as police stations in Batangas City and Mabalacat.
He also brings a strong background in intelligence and field operations, having served in various capacities in Central Luzon and MIMAROPA.
