The Philippine National Police (PNP) is on heightened alert and will enforce maximum tolerance as groups prepare to hold protest actions on March 11, marking the first anniversary of the arrest and detention of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Authorities are closely monitoring major roads, including EDSA and areas in Davao City, as a motorcade rally is expected to pass from EDSA to Villamor Air Base.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said additional police forces have been deployed to maintain peace and security while coordinating with local government units.
The PNP also assured that it respects the public’s right to express their sentiments but emphasized its duty to ensure that protests remain peaceful and do not disrupt public order.
