SIGMA, CAPIZ- Sigma Mayor Dante Eslabon highlighted the key programs and accomplishments of his administration during the PIA Kapihan held on February 12, 2026.
Among those emphasized was the Speed Limit Ordinance, or Ordinance No. 05-S-2024, which was officially implemented on June 1, 2025.
Based on records from the Public Order Safety Unit, a total of 2,697 motorists were apprehended for violating the speed limit from June to December 2025. The highest number of violators was recorded in June with 846 apprehensions, while the figure gradually decreased to 99 by December.
Reports also showed that road accidents in Sigma dropped by nearly 50 percent following the implementation of the ordinance.
Mayor Eslabon said this reflects the local government’s continued efforts to improve the safety and welfare of Sigma residents.
