A vendor died after being trapped by a bus that lost its brakes and suddenly reversed along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, on Sunday afternoon.
A video footage shows the bus stopped when it suddenly reversed and ran over the vendors along the side of the road. The victim, a 53-year-old woman, was dragged by the bus before it came to a halt after hitting a footbridge post.
Although the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital, she later died from the injuries she sustained.
An initial investigation by the police revealed that the bus was dropping off passengers when the driver noticed that the brakes had failed, and the bus started to reverse.
The 50-year-old bus driver is in police custody and will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple damage to properties.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the full details of the incident.
