ROXAS CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) Region 6 is optimistic that the Western Visayas delegation will clinch the championship title in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, DepEd Region 6 spokesperson Mr. Hernani Escullar Jr. expressed the region’s strong aspiration to secure the top spot this year, after placing third in last year’s national games.

According to Escullar, the Western Visayas delegation will be composed of 965 members, including 605 athletes, 87 coaches, 24 assistant coaches, 40 chaperons, and 209 members of the technical working committees.

The delegation from Panay, Guimaras, and Negros is scheduled to depart on May 17 and is expected to arrive in Ilocos Norte by May 19.

This year’s event marks the final joint participation of Western Visayas and Negros Occidental in the Palarong Pambansa, making the occasion especially significant for the region.

DepEd Region 6 has the unique advantage of being supported by two regional directors: OIC Regional Director Christito Eco, CESO III, and Dr. Ramir Uytico, CESO III, the Regional Director of the Negros Island Region.

Eco, who previously served as Assistant Regional Director in the National Capital Region (NCR), brings valuable experience that may benefit the athletes of Region 6 in their quest for victory.

Ilocos Norte is hosting this year’s Palarong Pambansa, with the National Capital Region defending its title as last year’s overall champion.
