The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has strengthened its preparations for the anticipated impact of upcoming typhoons in the country by intensifying their disaster preparedness efforts.
In accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the agency is urging a more active role for Regional Directors and Officers-in-Charge as Shelter Cluster Leads in their respective regions.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling emphasized that regional offices should serve as the central point of coordination when it comes to disasters related to shelter, particularly in high-risk areas.
Included in the measures are tighter collaborations with local government units to ensure efficient and prompt responses during calamities.
The regional offices have also been instructed to submit daily situational reports for more effective monitoring of needs and responses in affected areas.
