Israel has launched a major airstrike targeting several government buildings in Damascus, Syria, resulting in multiple casualties and widespread condemnation from the Syrian government.
According to Syria’s Ministry of Health, the attack killed three people and wounded 34 others. Syrian officials described the strike as a “dangerous escalation” and strongly condemned what they called an unprovoked act of aggression.
Syria has vowed to retaliate, though no specific actions have yet been announced.
Israel reportedly launched the attack to protect the Druze community—an Arab minority currently engaged in conflict with the Syrian government.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously labeled Syria’s new leader as a significant threat to Israeli security.
Tensions in the region continue to rise as international observers monitor potential fallout from the attack.
