MAAYON, CAPIZ- A man was killed after being stabbed in Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, Maayon, Capiz.
The victim was identified as alias “Bernard,” 31 years old, a motorcycle mechanic and a resident of Barangay Tuburan in the said town. The suspected assailant was identified as alias “Felizardo,” 55 years old, and a resident of Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, also in Maayon.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Major Syril Punzalan, Chief of the Maayon Municipal Police Station, stated that while the victim was having coffee at a local market, the suspect suddenly approached him and stabbed him in the stomach.
Additionally, according to some residents, the victim tried to escape but was chased by the suspect, who then stabbed him twice more in the right side of the chest.
The Maayon Bureau of Fire Protection rescue team immediately responded and rushed the victim to Bailan District Hospital, but he was declared “dead on arrival” by the attending physician.
Meanwhile, the suspect managed to escape quickly, riding his motorcycle in an undisclosed direction.
It is known that the incident was triggered by a longstanding dispute between the two.
Currently, the Maayon Municipal Police Station is continuing its hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspect and clarify the details of the incident.
