ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ- Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and personnel from the Capiz Rehabilitation Center (CRC) seized drug paraphernalia, various units of cellphones, and bottles of intoxicating liquor during the Oplan Galugad operation at the Capiz Rehabilitation Center, Lawaan, Roxas City.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Jail Warden Arjuna Yngcong of the Capiz Rehabilitation Center stated that three cells were inspected, namely cells 1, 2, and 3, which house a total of 327 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), 138 of whom are facing cases related to illegal drugs.
During the operation, in cell 1, a charger, a pair of scissors, and a plastic sachet were confiscated. In cell 2, two improvised pipes, 21 lighters, four different units of cellphones, three improvised totters, a plastic sachet, a scalper, and bottles of intoxicating liquor were seized.
It was reported that the inspection was conducted based on information regarding the alleged entry of illegal drugs into the rehab center, which had reached their office.
Yngcong further stated that the use of cellphones and consumption of intoxicating liquor is strictly prohibited among the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
Meanwhile, Yngcong admitted that their office is severely understaffed, which is why illegal activities still manage to occur within the Capiz Rehabilitation Center.
