CAPIZ – The municipality of President Roxas was declared the overall champion in the recently concluded 1st Capiz Provincial Rescue Olympics 2025 held at Villareal Stadium in Roxas City.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo Roxas, Frederick Earl Burgos, LDRRMO V of President Roxas, shared that their team had been preparing for more than a month leading up to the competition.
Their dedication paid off as they clinched top honors in several categories, including the Toughest Rescuer Challenge, Best in Bandaging, and Best in Patient Packaging, securing their position as overall winners of the event.
The winning team was composed of responders from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and the Active Lutod-Lutod Emergency Response Team (ALERT).
The Rescue Olympics gathered various Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMOs) from across the province, except for a few municipalities such as Cuartero, Dumarao, Tapaz, and Panay.
The event was organized by the Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) as part of its efforts to strengthen the preparedness and capabilities of local disaster response teams in dealing with emergencies.
During the event, Governor Fredenil H. Castro also led the ceremonial turnover of emergency equipment to several government agencies. Among the recipients were the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Red Cross – Capiz Chapter, and Lawaan Integrated School.
Governor Castro emphasized that the Rescue Olympics reflects the provincial government’s commitment to enhancing disaster readiness and emergency response. He also assured continued support for all agencies and organizations working to protect the lives and safety of the people of Capiz.
