PRESIDENT ROXAS, CAPIZ – President Roxas, Capiz Mayor Receliste Escolin has filed a petition for certiorari with the Supreme Court following the Commission on Elections (Comelec) En Banc’s dismissal of his motion for reconsideration regarding the cancellation of his certificate of candidacy for the 2025 midterm elections.
A certiorari is a legal petition requesting a higher court to review the decision or actions of a government body.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Escolin stated that he will pursue all available legal remedies to remain in office as mayor.
He assured the residents of President Roxas not to worry, emphasizing that he is determined to ensure that the votes of the people are not wasted.
Escolin also acknowledged that while some individuals may be pleased with the Comelec En Banc’s decision, the true source of his happiness comes from knowing that many town residents continue to support him.
Furthermore, he expressed hope that a temporary restraining order (TRO) will be approved and granted by next week.
