MANILA– The Senators who won the May 12 National and Local Elections were officially proclaimed yesterday, Saturday, May 17 held at The Tent City Manila Hotel, Manila, Philippines.
The Commission on Elections led the proclamation of 12 Senators, but Sen. Kiko Pangilinan was unable to attend because he was attending his son’s graduation in America.
During the ceremony, each Senator was given the opportunity to give a few-minute message. Meanwhile, Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia also praised the good turnout in the said election.
According to Garcia, the turnout of more than 82% can be considered the largest turnout in the history of the country. Garcia also thanked young voters for their active participation in the said elections.
The Comelec chair noted that the support shown by the youth, especially their large percentage, is a major factor in dictating who the next leaders of the country will be.
Although he said that the 2025 elections was not perfect, the official is pleased that overall there were no major issues or problems in the elections.
At the end of the Comelec Chairman’s message before the formal proclamation, he left a call to the Senators for reform and improvement in the next election.
