TAPAZ, CAPIZ- The troops of the 12th Infantry Battalion successfully discovered a stash of weapons belonging to the Communist Terrorist Group in Barangay Tacayan, Tapaz, Capiz.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Lieutenant Colonel Vicel Jan Garsuta, the Commanding Officer of the 12IB, stated that they were conducting an operation after receiving information from a former member of the rebel group.
The official further mentioned that this serves as proof of the ongoing cooperation between former rebels and government forces against local terrorism.
Included in the items recovered by the military during the operation were one (1) M16 rifle, three (3) short steel magazines, ammunition, two (2) rifle grenades, one (1) detonator for an anti-personnel mine, three (3) blasting caps, 50 meters of wire, one (1) holster, and one (1) damaged .38 caliber revolver.
This achievement is a clear reflection of the Philippine Army’s continued focus on dismantling the remaining forces of the rebels and maintaining peace and security in the region.
Garsuta also urged the remaining members of the group to return to the fold of the government and participate in its programs aimed at sustaining peace, such as the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
