Barangay Councilor Killed in Riding-in-Tandem Shooting After Cleanup Drive

A 59-year-old barangay councilor was shot dead by assailants riding in tandem in Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Police said initial investigation revealed that the victim had just come from a cleanup drive prior to the shooting. The councilor sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died instantly.

Authorities are continuing the manhunt for the suspects while investigators work to determine the motive behind the attack.

According to the victim’s relatives, the councilor had previously survived an attempt on his life, allegedly linked to a land dispute.
