Former Senate President Franklin Drilon called on the opposition to settle on a “common candidate” for the 2028 presidential elections to remain competitive.

Speaking at his book launch in Makati on Monday, Drilon stressed that early agreement is crucial, noting that no formal mechanism or party convention exists to select a unified candidate.

Drilon also acknowledged Vice President Sara Duterte as the current strongest potential contender, while emphasizing that his views are personal and do not reflect the official stance of the opposition.

He added that recent impeachment complaints against Duterte and President Marcos Jr. appear politically motivated, serving as a prelude to the 2028 race.
