A 27-year-old woman was killed after being stabbed by her 38-year-old husband inside their home in Davao City. Police said the suspect claimed he committed the crime after allegedly discovering that his wife was having an affair through Facebook Messenger.
According to authorities, the suspect repeatedly stabbed his wife while she was sleeping inside their house in Barangay 23-C on Tuesday. Despite sustaining multiple stab wounds, the victim was still able to run a few steps before collapsing. She was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The victim’s mother was also injured after attempting to protect her daughter during the attack.
The suspect was arrested, and the bladed weapon believed to have been used in the crime was recovered.
Police said the suspect justified his actions by claiming he saw messages on his wife’s Messenger account indicating alleged infidelity. A former barangay captain in the area also stated that the suspect was allegedly using illegal drugs and had been involved in disturbances during his term.
The suspect is set to face charges of parricide and frustrated parricide.
