ROXAS CITY – Fear and speculation gripped a village in President Roxas, Capiz after the mysterious disappearance of two young boys in Sitio Manga, Barangay Badiangon.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo Roxas, Mayor Receliste Escolin said the boys, aged six and eight, told their parents they were going to bathe in the river but failed to return home promptly.
Their parents, alarmed by the delay, sought help from local officials and police authorities.
After an extensive search, the children were found in a grassy area, weak and visibly exhausted.
The incident reignited local fears and folklore about the so-called “aswang,” a mythical creature long embedded in Capiz legends.
Authorities are still investigating to determine the real cause of the children’s disappearance.
