A delivery truck fell into a ravine in Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte, leaving one worker dead and two others injured, authorities reported. The incident occurred on Monday in Barangay Mamawan.

According to the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga (PRO-9), the truck, carrying coffee and milk products, fell an estimated 20 feet into the ravine.

The driver reportedly lost control while descending a section of the road after noticing that the brakes had failed.

“When they were on the downhill part of the road, the driver noticed the brakes weren’t working. They became hard, and he could no longer control the truck, causing it to fall,” said PRO-9 spokesperson Police Major Shellamie Chang.

One of the workers was trapped and did not survive despite being rushed to the hospital. The driver and another worker were injured but survived.
