PASSI CITY, ILOILO — While strong winds and heavy rains from Typhoon Tino battered parts of Western Visayas, children who took shelter at the Passi City Arena found comfort and learning inside the air-conditioned evacuation facility.

Local authorities ensured the well-being of evacuees, especially children, by setting up an LED screen inside the arena where educational videos were played. The initiative aimed to keep young evacuees both safe and engaged while waiting for weather conditions to improve.

According to city officials, the activity was part of the local government’s effort to create a more child-friendly environment inside evacuation centers — helping to ease fear and anxiety among children affected by the storm.

Families who stayed in the arena expressed gratitude for the comfortable facilities and the concern shown for their children’s welfare. The Passi City Arena served as one of the major evacuation sites that accommodated residents displaced by Typhoon Tino.
