On the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution this February 25, Liberal Party (LP) Chairperson and Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Representative Leila de Lima emphasized that mere commemoration is insufficient; concrete action is necessary to safeguard the country’s democracy.

In a statement, the lawmaker stressed that despite four decades having passed since the historic bloodless revolution, new threats to freedom continue to emerge.

The former senator also reminded the public that, for some, the spirit of EDSA is becoming a distant memory—especially with a Marcos back in the presidency and politicians opposing accountability.

The party concluded by asserting that honoring EDSA is a pledge to defend the rule of law.
