The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) extended immediate assistance to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were stranded while en route to the Middle East due to escalating tensions in the region.

A total of 57 OFWs bound for Abu Dhabi were unable to proceed with their flights and were stranded at the Hong Kong International Airport. They safely returned to Manila early Monday morning, March 2, 2026, where they were promptly assisted by representatives from DMW and OWWA upon arrival.

Prior to their return, the stranded workers were supported by the Migrant Workers Office in Hong Kong, which provided food and other essential assistance at the airport. Meanwhile, some OFWs were also given temporary accommodation and transportation support by OWWA.
