Ivisan, Capiz – Joint law enforcement units apprehended a total of seven individuals for violating Municipal Ordinance No. 03-02, also known as the Municipal Fishery Code, Series of 2003, during two separate anti-illegal fishing operations in the municipal waters of Brgy. Balaring.
The first operation, conducted at around 8:40 PM, led to the arrest of Renz Berg Delos Santos Arollado, 27, boat captain; Tommy Alejandro Tomarong, 42, crew; and Reymond Moreno Bayola, 23, crew. The second operation, shortly after at 8:50 PM, resulted in the apprehension of Bayani Mahusay Baing, 42, boat captain; Robot Arroyo Toledo, 35, crew; John Dave Atong Delgado, 20, crew; and Franklin Baing Guillen, 19, crew. All individuals are residents of Brgy. Culasi, Roxas City, Capiz.
According to authorities, the violators were caught in the act engaging in illegal fishing using a method locally known as “kayagkag” and were operating without the necessary permits. Confiscated items included:
From the first group: one banca “Bibing” with an Isuzu C190 diesel engine (Php 180,000), fishing gear worth Php 100,000, and approximately 175 kilos of fish valued at Php 7,500.
From the second group: one banca “Mark Lourenz” with an Isuzu C190 diesel engine (Php 180,000), fishing gear worth Php 50,000, and approximately 105 kilos of fish valued at Php 4,500.
All apprehended individuals were brought to the Ivisan Municipal Police Station for documentation and later turned over to the Ivisan Municipal Agriculture Office for proper disposition of the confiscated items.
The operations were led by the Ivisan MPS, with support from the 2nd Capiz PMFC and Ivisan Bantay Dagat. Authorities emphasized that these enforcement actions underscore the municipality’s commitment to protecting its marine resources and curbing illegal fishing activities.
