The University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons handed the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs their first defeat in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball competition on Saturday at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila. UP clinched a hard‑fought five‑set victory, with final scores of 16‑25, 25‑16, 25‑22, 31‑29, 18‑16.
UP’s Casiey Dongallo led her team with 20 points, while Jelai Gajero added 19 points and Nina Ytang contributed 18 points with a strong blocking presence. On the NU side, Vange Alinsug scored 16 points and Arah Panique finished with 15 points.
This win improved UP’s standing to 3‑1, matching NU’s 3‑1 record in the women’s division. In the men’s match that day, NU bounced back by sweeping UP in straight sets, moving to 3‑1 themselves.
