TANAY, RIZAL — Two men riding a pickup truck were injured after being shot by a car driver during a road rage incident in Tanay, Rizal on Sunday. The suspect initially fled the scene but was later arrested following a police chase.

The shooting occurred in Barangay Kutyo and was reported to patrolling police officers by a passing motorcycle rider who witnessed the incident.

According to Police Colonel Feloteo Gonzalgo, Provincial Director of the Rizal Provincial Police Office, officers found the pickup truck stopped in the middle of the road with bullet holes and blood visible inside the vehicle.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect’s car allegedly overtook the pickup truck and hit its side mirror. The car then suddenly stopped, causing the two vehicles to collide.

The car’s driver, a senior citizen, reportedly got out of his vehicle, confronted the pickup truck occupants, and then opened fire.

The driver of the pickup sustained serious injuries, while another passenger was shot in the leg.

Police pursued the suspect and caught up with him in Morong, Rizal after a 15-minute chase. Inside his vehicle, authorities found a firearm, two bladed weapons, and a police-style blinker.

The suspect refused to give a statement, but police said he admitted to the crime during initial questioning.

He is now facing multiple charges related to the shooting and illegal possession of weapons.
