DUMARAO, CAPIZ – A man tragically lost his life after being run over by a bus in Barangay Tinaytayan, Dumarao, Capiz.
The victim, known only by the alias “Jess,” was 34 years old and a resident of the said barangay. The bus driver, identified as “Ed,” 58, is from Banate, Iloilo.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, PCAPT Tobias Garfin, chief of the Dumarao Municipal Police Station, said that the bus was traveling toward Iloilo, while the victim was riding his motorcycle in the opposite direction toward Cuartero town.
According to PCAPT Garfin, the victim suddenly lost control of his motorcycle and fell into the opposite lane—right into the path of the bus, which ran over him.
Reports say the victim was on his way to buy something at the time of the incident.
The bus driver immediately surrendered to the police but was later released after his legally mandated detention period ended.
Authorities also confirmed that both parties have reached a settlement after discussions.
PCAPT Garfin reminded all motorists to be extra cautious on the road, especially during the rainy season when streets are often slippery and dangerous.
