The Philippine National Police (PNP) has confirmed that one of the bones recovered from Taal Lake is part of a human hip bone.
Earlier, the PNP reported that six bones were found inside recovered sacks, and initial forensic examination identified one as a human hip bone. However, authorities have yet to determine whether the remains belong to any of the missing sabungeros (cockfighting enthusiasts).
The PNP Forensic Group continues to examine the recovered bones to confirm whether they are human remains and to verify if they match the missing individuals linked to the ongoing investigation.
DNA samples have already been obtained from at least 12 relatives of the missing sabungeros, and more samples are expected as the investigation progresses.
So far, five sacks have been retrieved from the search area. Technical divers from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continue underwater operations to recover potential evidence.
The PCG has completed the search of the first quadrant of the designated area after several days of diving. The site—believed to be where the remains were dumped—has been divided into four quadrants, and the team is now preparing to move on to the next sections.
