ROXAS CITY – Excitement is building among the public as the much-awaited “The Next Bombo Idol”, an Extemporaneous Speaking Contest of Bombo Radyo Philippines, draws near. The event aims to inspire Capizeño youth to further enhance their commentary and critical thinking skills.

According to Bombo Warren Lopez French, Assistant Vice President of Bombo Radyo Philippines, the project is centered on empowering the youth of Roxas City and the province of Capiz by engaging them in a competition that uses Hiligaynon as the medium of instruction.

He added that the competition seeks to develop the participants’ communication abilities, analytical skills, and potential to eventually become part of Bombo Radyo’s programs in the years ahead.

French also emphasized that the event will strengthen Bombo Radyo’s connection with local culture and festivities, especially as Roxas City celebrates the Sinadya Festival 2025.

A total of 46 finalists from across Capiz will compete in the event, composed of:

  • 6 finalists from the college level,
  • 21 finalists from the secondary level, and
  • 19 finalists from the elementary level.

Participants will be judged according to the following criteria:

  • Content & Relevance – 40%
  • Delivery (Voice, Pronunciation, Diction, Confidence) – 30%
  • Organization of Ideas – 20%
  • Stage Presence – 10%

Serving as the overall chairman of the event is Bombo Chris Jan Hechanova Lozada, Officer-in-Charge of Bombo Radyo Roxas, with Bombo Lynd-C Joy Bade, Acting Assistant Station Manager of Bombo Radyo Roxas, as vice chairperson.

This will be the first-ever staging of “The Next Bombo Idol.”

The competition is scheduled on December 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at SM City Roxas, Arnaldo Boulevard, Barangay Baybay, Roxas City.
