LEBANON, Maine — At 86 years old, Kim Knor is proving age is just a number as she edges closer to an incredible milestone: 1,000 skydives.
Knor, a pioneer of women’s parachuting in the U.S., added four more jumps to her tally on Wednesday at Skydive New England in Lebanon – bringing her current total to an astonishing 870 jumps.
She first leapt into the skies back in 1959, and by 1962 was already a member of the U.S. Women’s National Parachute Team, blazing a trail for female skydivers.
After taking a 37-year break to raise her children, Knor made a triumphant return to the sport she loves. Now, she’s on a mission to complete 1,000 free falls — a feat that will earn her the coveted “gold wings” from the United States Parachute Association.
For Knor, the sky isn’t the limit – it’s just the beginning.
